I recall taking a 1 week training course on "managing people" that was sponsored by my company about 15 years ago. That was the first time I was introduced to Myers-Briggs which was used to understand one-self FIRST and then utilized to understand how "I" would interact with others. This book is the first that I've seen to attempt to match a student's personality/attributes to a college that fits them in that fashion. As parents (or students), it's difficult to figure out where is the place that fits their needs the best and this book helped give us another view on (albeit just 82) colleges and how our child would fit in or not. Coincidentally, one of the schools that we visited (and chose not to apply to before we got this book) was in this book and would not have been a good match from the Myers-Briggs standpoint. We had visited that school because it had an outstanding 'name' as well as reputation for generous financial aid.

In short, additional information that is helpful in finding a college for the prospective student.

Claire Law and Rosalind Marie, well respected college consultants and members of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA), have written one of the most useful guides on my bookshelf. I don't know of a better resource for helping me understand the needs and learning styles of my students and then enabling me to steer them towards colleges where they will flourish. Their descriptions of the colleges they visited are accurate, thorough, and insightful. They truly undersand the importance of the college matching process. This book relates personality type and the fit of the college to the student. I particularly value the in-depth view of how unusual academic majors and interdisciplinary programs at various colleges match student personalities. Too often, parents and counselors guide students toward traditional, popular majors like Biology, Business or Psychology without realizing how personality type can affect the appropriateness of the choice. I wish that I had this as a resource when I was touring colleges with my own children. It would have enabled us get to ask better questions about academic programs and "cutting edge" majors.

I wish I had this book before my freshman year. As I was unhappy with my first year at college, I began to look for resources that would help me find the right fit for ME.....This book helped me very quickly think about what I really wanted from my college experience and find schools that offer that. I would recommend this book for kids and adults alike as it was a great asset for me!

I have been a College Counselor for the past ten years and own dozens of books on the subject of Admissions. Most offers the same clichéd advise/answers and fail to offer anything truly unique or helpful as I create college lists for my clients. "Find the Perfect College" fills the gap for me. And I am sure that it will do so as well for any reader searching to make that intuitive leap as to what exactly makes a College fit and succeed for one student, but be a total failure for another. I too visit hundreds of campuses regularly, yet was pleasantly surprised to learn more about them from this wonderful new resource.

All I can say is: "Thank You Claire Law and Rosalind Marie for making my job easier" !!
